Vehicles we accept in Iowa

Cars, trucks, SUVs, motorcycles, boats, RVs — running or not, clean title or complicated.

At Heartland Wheels, we believe that every vehicle has the potential to make a difference in our Iowa communities. We accept a wide range of vehicles, whether they are drivable or not. From old cars gathering dust to pickup trucks that have seen better days, your donation can help fund crucial benefits-research services for local residents. By donating your vehicle, you’re not just getting rid of an unwanted item; you’re also contributing to essential programs like SNAP, IA Health Link, and more that support your neighbors in need.

Categories we accept

Cars & Sedans
1995-present

Most cars and sedans are sold at auction, generating funds that support local services. Even those with minor issues can find a second life in parts or recycling, maximizing their value for our community.

Whether you have a family sedan or a compact car, these vehicles are abundant across Iowa, and their donations can significantly impact local research programs.

Pickup Trucks
1995-present

Pickup trucks often fetch good prices at auction but can also be dismantled for parts. Many Iowans appreciate the versatility of pickups, making them valuable donations.

With farming and outdoor activities being a staple in Iowa, pickup trucks are common and their donations help enhance local support services.

SUVs & Crossovers
1995-present

SUVs and crossovers are popular and can be sold or parted out. They typically attract bidders looking for family-friendly options, benefiting our community programs significantly.

In rural Iowa, families often rely on SUVs for transportation, making their donation impactful for those seeking better health services.

Motorcycles
1995-present

Motorcycles are often sold at auction or may be salvaged for parts, providing funds for community research needs.

With scenic roads across Iowa, many residents own motorcycles, and their donations can help fund essential services throughout the state.

RVs & Campers
1990-present

RVs and campers can be sold at auction or recycled. They often hold value, helping support local programs that serve our communities.

Iowans love exploring our parks with RVs, and these donations can help fund research that enhances local outdoor experiences.

Boats
1990-present

Boats may be sold at auction or scrapped for parts, contributing to the funding of local research programs.

Though Iowa isn’t coastal, many residents own boats for recreational enjoyment on our numerous lakes and rivers, making them valuable donations.

Commercial Vehicles
1995-present

Commercial vehicles, such as vans and delivery trucks, can be sold or dismantled for parts, generating significant support for our initiatives.

With a vibrant local economy, Iowa businesses often rely on commercial vehicles, and their donations can help our community thrive.

Non-running Vehicles
Any age

Non-running vehicles often undergo dismantling for parts or are recycled, ensuring that even they can provide value for community research.

Many Iowans have non-running vehicles in their backyards; these donations can transform unwanted cars into local help.

Condition guide

If your vehicle is in running condition, it’s straightforward: we can accept it as is, and it can go directly to supporting our community. If it doesn’t run, don’t worry; we still accept non-running vehicles. They will typically be sold for parts or recycled.

However, vehicles with salvage titles may require a bit more consideration. We handle these on a case-by-case basis, as their acceptance can depend on the extent of the damage. Regularly, we can work with vehicles that have been rebuilt or reconstructed if they meet safety and operational standards.
